ProWrite: Easy-To-Use Software For Color Signs

DES MOINES, IA — Fair-Play dealers and their customers will benefit from a new software package specifically intended for marquee applications where the cost and complexity of a sport controller is not required.

ProWrite
ProWrite™ is a simple yet powerful tool for creating sign content for marquees.  Users familiar with Microsoft® Office® will be programming their sign in no time.  Creating messages is as simple as creating PowerPoint® slides.  Scheduling messages is as simple as scheduling an appointment in Outlook®.

ProWrite software from Trans-Lux offers an array of features, including:

  • Easy to learn due to similarity with MS Office.
  • Drag-and-drop placement of text, pictures, and real time data including time and temperature.
  • Graphical creation of playlists and schedules.
  • Ability to remotely diagnose problems through the customer’s internet connection.
  • Remote upgrade of the CXC firmware via TCP/IP connection to avoid costly service visits to access the sign.
  • Online F1 Help, Quick Start Guide and context sensitive help files.

Unlike many sign controllers, the ProWrite system does not require an internal computer.  Instead, ProWrite uses a controller, called the CXC, that is specifically designed for signage.  The CXC uses a conventional SD flash memory card to store messages.

ProWrite uses TCP/IP communication to communicate to signs.  This often allows customers to connect their signs to an existing network with little or no investment in new equipment.  Connecting to signs via the internet from miles away is no problem.

ProWrite is compatible with Windows XP and Vista® operating systems.  It is typically installed on a user’s existing PC (not included in the basic control package).  ProWrite requires a standard network interface or Wi-Fi card, depending on connection type.

ProWrite is available for new color CaptiVue, with a resolution of 128 x 160 or less.  Many existing color CaptiVues can be upgraded to ProWrite and a CXC. ProLine is required for displays with a resolution larger than 128 x 160 and recommended for live events that benefit from the Interactive Commander feature.

The maximum range of the CaptiVue Wi-Fi is 500 feet (152m) unobstructed line of site.

In lieu of an operations manual, Trans-Lux is publishing all instructions online, which is easier to update and more environmentally-friendly.

ProWrite is now available for new orders.
